In their paper „Member-Owned Alternatives: Exploring Participatory Forms of Organising with Cooperatives“ Swedish scientists ask what future businesses could learn from coops’ organizational structures. By interviewing individuals from 24 different cooperatives, they examine their democratic and inclusive enterprise management, the various purposes coops can serve for their members, and their ICT usage. The authors emphasize the learning effects that CSCW-designers (computer supported collaborative work) could earn from looking at member-based or not profit-oriented organizations in order to design future business organizations.
